LunarEclipse

Ch.7

When Eclipse left Raoul alone he realized that he didn’t know where Lunar was. He blew hair out of his face and looked around. The manager caught his attention and he decided to ask him.

“N-no, I’m afraid I don’t know,” he said, looking at his feet, “But…but I think I last saw him go off in that direction,” he pointed to the adjoining restaurant. Eclipse narrowed his eyes slightly and the man quickly shifted his gaze elsewhere. That didn’t sit well with Eclipse. It was like the manager was hiding something.

---

Lunar bumped the back of his head in to the wall. He felt dizzy, and whatever it was that Raoul shot him up with was starting to take effect. Slowly everything swayed in and out of focus. It didn’t hurt too much. Actually, he was going numb. He was more worried about what the strange feeling coming over him was. He felt like he wanted something. And that he would go crazy if he didn’t get it.

“You’re the first human to be injected with this drug. I can’t say for sure if it will kill you or not. We’ll just have to see. So tell me, how do you feel?” Raoul asked.

“Can’t you just shut up? You’re giving me a headache.”

“I think the source of your headache is you beating your head against the wall,” Raoul said grabbing a hold of Lunar’s chin, “Stop now before you pass out. I need you awake for this.”

“Drop dead,” Lunar winced when Raoul’s grip on him tightened.

“So damn cocky…out of all the kinds of humans in the world I hate your type the most.”

Lunar scoffed, “You talk too much. Either shut up or tell me what this drug is.”

“It’s a drug my master developed for Vampires. It keeps a Vampire locked in the between stages of normal and berserk.”

“Then why give it to me? I’m a human, if you haven’t noticed.”

“I needed to test it. It works well if it’s directly injected into a Vampire or if he drinks the blood that is mixed with the drug but its never been introduced to a living human’s blood stream so I need to know if it’ll work the same way.”

Raoul put the cap back on the syringe and stored it back in his shirtsleeve. With a malicious glow in his eyes, he looked at Lunar, “That’s where you come in. The only way we’ll know if it works is if we have a test subject—you—offer your blood to some Vampires.”

“I won’t offer a drop of my blood to anyone!”

Raoul just laughed, “We’ll see about that. By the way…did you know that when the Vampire test subjects were given this drug they went absolutely mad at first? For hours it seemed they could never be sated. So it makes me wonder what’ll happen to you…” he leaned close to get a better look at Lunar’s face, “Well look at that! Your eyes are all blood shot,” Raoul laughed.

“Shut up,” Lunar looked away. That feeling of wanting something grew stronger as time passed. It made him uneasy, he never felt like that before. He wrapped his arms around his stomach and brought his knees to his chest. He heard Raoul laugh and tauntingly ask him a question that he couldn’t hear. It was annoying. Grinding his teeth together he glared at the half-breed. Lunar couldn’t stand to know how pathetic he looked, and he couldn’t stand that this half-breed dirt bag did this to him, but most of all he couldn’t stand that he was weak enough to get mixed up in this in the first place.

Suddenly that foreign desire building inside of him became perfectly clear and he knew what he wanted so badly. A low guttural chuckle came from his throat and he limply stood up. Raoul’s pleased expression quickly turned into unease. He stepped backwards and Lunar grinned.

“Stay away from me or I’ll…!” Raoul ordered, backing against the wall. Another inhuman sound rumbled in Lunar’s throat as he lost all control of his actions. He snickered when Raoul started trembling.

“I’ll kill you,” he breathed.

---

Raoul ducked and dodged Lunar’s attacks. He had no idea a human would react like that, it was exactly like lusting for blood. Lunar managed to land a hit and was able to pin him to the floor, “Damn human…!” Raoul screamed as he tried squirming out of Lunar’s grip.

His bloodshot eyes were glazed over and his pupils dilated so far that his irises were barely visible. He grinned again as he wrapped his fingers around Raoul’s throat. Gasping for breath Raoul tried to figure a way out. Panicking, he grabbed Lunar’s wrists and sent a hurtful shock of magic through his arms.

Lunar cried out in pain and flinched back, letting go of Raoul. He noticed Lunar’s arms were now limp. Not wasting any time Raoul thrust his open palm against Lunar’s chest, pushing him back and sending another charge of magic through his entire body. Lunar screamed again and the force threw his entire body back and he fell lifelessly to the tiled floor. Panting, Raoul rubbed his neck. He watched Lunar and got a small amount of satisfaction from seeing him writhe pathetically on the floor. Now that he knew for sure the drug took effect the next thing he needed to do was get Eclipse out of the picture.

---

Eclipse halted mid-step. Did he just hear someone scream? It sounded distant and like it came from somewhere behind him. He narrowed his eyes and followed the sound. As he got closer the scent of blood teased his nose. The smell was faint but familiar and it sent a shiver down his spine. It smelt like Lunar’s blood. A pang of hunger wracked his body and he blindly fumbled for his drugs.

“Are you feeling well?” Raoul asked, standing not too far from him.

“Y-yeah, fine. Have you seen Lunar anywhere, it’s really important that I find him.” He slipped the drug back into his pocket and wiped his mouth on his sleeve.

For a second Raoul’s eyes shifted to the rooms behind them before meeting Eclipse’s gaze once more, “I haven’t seen him…maybe he left?”

“That doesn’t seem right.” Why would Lunar leave a place like this with a job unfinished? It was true Eclipse knew nothing about him but he didn’t give the impression of someone who would leave for no reason.

“What does it matter? You shouldn’t be so reliant on a human like him. He’s—”

Eclipse frowned, “You’re talking like you’ve met him before.”

Raoul rolled his eyes, “Of course I have. I—” he stopped himself after realizing what he just said and covered his mouth with his hand. “I-I mean…”

“Where is he?”

“I don’t know,” his gaze darted around the hallway.

“You do.”

“Sh-shut up…” Raoul started shaking.

“Just tell me where he is and I’ll—”

Raoul punched him in the gut before he could finish. He gasped and staggered backwards. Another punch hit him in the jaw and he fell back. The punches didn’t have much power behind them but Eclipse was caught off guard. Besides, Eclipse understood Raoul. He was just throwing a tantrum because of the fact Lunar was a human and he felt betrayed that Eclipse was working with him. Raoul wasn’t trying to hurt him badly. Completely understandable…or that’s what Eclipse kept on thinking until Raoul pulled out a knife.

“What the hell?” Eclipse yelled when he realized Raoul was serious. He dodged the blade the first few times but he tripped over his own feet and Raoul stabbed him in the side. He screamed when he tore the knife out of him at an angle.

“You deserve to die like a dog, you traitor,” Raoul said as he raised the blade again. Eclipse shut his eyes then started when three gunshots sounded behind them. One bullet whizzed passed Raoul’s ear, another went through his shoulder, and the last one flew into his back. He fell to the floor and didn’t move. Eclipse looked at him, hoping he wasn’t dead.

“Are you all right?” The hotel manager asked. To Eclipse’s surprise it was the manager who shot the gun. He stowed it in his back pocket.

“I’ve been better,” he said pressing his hands against his wound. He started to get a little woozy, “But it seems there’s something you didn’t tell us before.”

The manger hung his head as he helped Eclipse stand, “I am sorry…he blackmailed me. I was able to spread the word little by little until you finally came. Your friend is down the hall in the last room, do you need my help?”

“…No. Take Raoul somewhere where he can’t cause trouble. I’ll take care of Lunar.”

---

“Lunar…? Are you in here?” Eclipse asked, peeking inside the bathroom. He cursed loudly when he discovered Lunar lying on the bathroom floor. He knelt down next to him. Lunar glared at him silently. Eclipse was taken aback by the redness of his eyes.

They shouldn’t be like that… he thought worriedly. He reached out to touch him but Lunar snapped.

“Don’t touch me!” his voice sounded raspy and inhuman. He tried to move but his body was paralyzed. Eclipse took his hand back and pressed it against his knife wound.

“Let me guess…it was Raoul, right? He didn’t even give you time to treat your burn, did he? Little brat. I thought I could trust him.” Lunar grunted, it sounded like he was trying to laugh. “Shut up. How was I supposed to know I couldn’t?” Lunar rolled his eyes.

“Well you’re the worst person to ask when it comes to trust issues. Geez…” He looked at Lunar’s pathetic state and he felt sorry for him, “I’m going to help you whether you like it or not.” He stood up and grabbed Lunar by the shoulders. Luckily for him Lunar couldn’t move so there was no struggling. He dragged him to the bed and started dressing Lunar’s burns.

“No…don’t touch me…!” Lunar said, his voice shaky.

“I’m only trying to help—”

“No! You’ll kill me!” He yelled hysterically, “The second I take my eyes off of you you’ll drain me of my blood and let me die!” he weakly tried pulling away.

“That’s not true,” Eclipse squeezed Lunar’s hand a little tighter.

“What?”

“If I wanted to kill you as badly as you think I would have done it by now,” Eclipse sighed. Then mumbled as an afterthought, “Wait…did I say that already? I can’t remember.”

“I don’t understand…”

“I don’t want to kill you… I’ve got no reason to. You don’t have to believe me but I swear that’s the truth,” he blinked a few times to keep his vision steady.

“You…you’re different from other Vampires.”

Eclipse laughed and thought, How long have I been telling you this now?

He finished bandaging the wound after a few minutes. It wasn’t as neat as he would have liked it but the knife wound was bothering him more and more. And his vision got blurrier with every passing second. Suddenly feeling very tired he closed his eyes and slouched forward, his forehead rested on Lunar’s chest. Lunar yelled at him to get off and half-heartedly tried pushing him away. He couldn’t remember anything that happened after that.

Ohohoho! It’s almost there!

Eclipse really likes passing out at the end of a chapter doesn’t he? Haha… ^^; (i just like picturing him sleeping, that's all >.> )

Sorry for not writing more but I felt that if I added anything else I would become dissatisfied and rewrite it (again….urg). Plus I’m trying to limit myself to a seven page maximum. Quality over quantity, I say (unless you need to write a 3 page essay on crap you couldn’t care less about—then take up as many pages as you can, my friends!) And I know I promised a kiss but it didn’t fit without being out of place so instead I give you an almost cute and almost cuddle moment at the very end. You like? Well it’s better then nothing.
